Dr Kristina OREHOUNIG
Dr Kristina Orehounig is the lead principal investigator of the Cooling Singapore project. She heads the Laboratory of Urban Energy Systems at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) and co-leads the group of Multi-Energy Systems at the lab. In addition, she lectures at the department of Architecture at ETH Zurich.
Her research interests include the development of sustainable concepts in building design and operation and the integration of renewable energy systems in neighborhoods. Her core competences lie in the development of simulation and optimization techniques to transform buildings, neighbourhoods and cities into energy-efficient and decarbonized systems.
Dr Orehounig holds a Master degree in Architecture and a PhD degree from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria. She is an active member of the International building performance simulation association (IBPSA) from which she received the Outstanding young contributor award in 2011.
