Biophilic city in Skyline magazine
Dr Lena Chan expressed the importance of the Natural Capital Singapore project in supporting Singapore's efforts towards a biophilic city in URA's Skyline magazine

The external page Natural Capital Singapore study was set up to quantify Singapore's natural assets, define the most important ecosystems and develop tools to aid biophilic design in urban planning. Dr Chan said that putting a dollar value to something will increase the awareness of its true value and that the study will let us know the true functions and benefits of our ecosystems. She also mentioned the need to develop the vocabulary that will help connect our ecosystem services with the current economic system.
Dr Lena Chan is the senior director of the International Biodiversity Conservation Division in the National Parks Board (NParks), a key partner of the Natural Capital Singapore project. Natural Capital Singapore is an intra-CREATE research project, funded by the National Research Foundation. The project is hosted by the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) and the team is led by principal investigators from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), SEC, and ETH Zurich.
